Dr. Drennan, Physician and Enthusiast

Dr. Dan Drennan is a board-certified anesthesiologist with fellowship training and board certification in chronic pain management. He is the new associate of Dr. Brad Vilims at Colorado Pain Specialists, working out of the Spine Center of Innovation on the South Campus.

Dr. Drennan grew up on a 7-acre farm outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Although you may not pick up on his slight southern accent, you cannot mistake his southern roots when discussing sports or music. Always an SEC and Atlanta sports enthusiast, Dr. Drennan expanded his musical horizons when he went to college at Vanderbilt University. While in Nashville, he fell in love with live musical performances, and his wife Contessa.

After deferring medical school while serving as a research coordinator for Vanderbilt University Medical Center transplant clinics, Dr. Drennan finally enrolled at the Georgia Health Sciences University Medical College of Georgia. He fortunately rotated through the chronic pain management clinic as a third year student. After that rotation, Dr. Drennan decided to pursue a career in pain management and anesthesiology. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at the University of California-Irvine and his chronic pain fellowship at the University of Utah.

Since completing his fellowship, Dr. Drennan worked two years to establish a strong and growing chronic pain practice at the University of Utah. After nearly three years at the University of Utah, Dr. Drennan reached his maximum capacity at that clinic, and he felt that joining Colorado Pain Specialists would allow him to deliver high quality pain management to more patients.

Dr. Drennan loves living in Colorado with his wife and two dogs. They are outdoor enthusiasts.

“Our first date was a camping trip with friends at Fall Creek Falls in Tennessee,” laughs Dr. Drennan.

He hopes to ski and snowboard some this winter. You will definitely catch him at Red Rocks this coming summer both hiking and enjoying the live entertainment!
