Did you know your wound VAC patient can be seen by our Wound Care Team?

This skilled team is made up of RNs and Physical Therapists who are trained to care for wounds and to use negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT).

What do you have to do to have the Wound Care Team follow your patient?

  • Just write an order.
  • Activate NPWT and consult physical therapy for wound care.

What does the Wound Care Team need to know about your patient’s wound?

  • Goal of the therapy (i.e. delayed primary closure, supporting granulation tissue or success of split thickness skin graft or flap)
  • Width, length and depth of the wound
  • Undermining or tunnels in the wound
  • What dressings were applied in surgery
  • White foam number
  • Black foam number
  • Silver foam number
  • Other: i.e. Mepitel or Adaptic number

Conducting wound VAC care will help prevent retained foreign objects for your surgical patients.
