The printing of nurses' notes will soon be a thing of the past as we move toward the first part of our Electronic Record Implementation. We kicked the project off on July 28, 2009, and are nearing our testing phase completion. We will keep you informed when the "Go-live" date is announced.

PCP auto-fax notification is coming soon! TMCA will be able to provide an auto-fax notification of admissions and discharges to the patient's P.C.P. Stay tuned, this is currently in the final phase of testing.  We will advise you when we receive the green light.

Did You Know?

  • Addendums to a previously signed report must be dictated. This is required for two reasons: the new entry needs to be authenticated by you and the report needs to available electronically for all caregivers.
  • Electronic signature and editing is available to all physicians. This is a good time to sign-up for this feature and become familiar with it, not to mention the time saving factor. Call Anne Smith @ 303-873-5785 for details.

Cancer Registry

The American College of Surgeons surveyed our cancer program on August 6, 2009.  We are proud to report that we received a three year accreditation with six accommodations.  Special thanks to Pat Schmidt and Barbara Hiatt, Tumor Registrars, along with Dr. Carter, Dr. S. Clark, Dr. Diab and other distinguished members of the Cancer Committee for assisting with this successful survey!

Privacy Matters

On September 23rd, 2009 the federal government enacted the HITECH component of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.  The law contains provisions requiring notification when certain privacy and security breaches occur.  The regulations require a facility to notify any affected patients, the Department of Health and Human Services and at times the media when a breach of unsecure protected health information occurs.  Fines related to privacy breaches have also increased.

Privacy Safeguards and Reminders

Please be careful when discarding protected health information.  Confidential information should always be placed in the data guard.  Please be aware of your surroundings when discussing confidential information. Obtain the patient's permission prior to discussing confidential information with family or friends.  Should you have privacy questions or concerns notify Amy Guerra @ 303-695-2752.
